Year-end cleaning

I usually live in Osaka, but I spend the year-end and New Year holidays at my home in Gunma. I go back to Gunma about once every two months to take care of the farmland and clean the house. I have two younger sisters who live in the neighborhood, so she and her husband are helping to maintain it, so we manage to maintain it. Much of the farmland is rented out to people who cultivate it. In the past, I used to grow my own rice and wheat, so it was difficult to go to Gunma frequently. Now I only manage small orchards that (more…)

Japanese Imperial palace infront of Tokyo Station

I went on a business trip to Tokyo for the first time in a long time, and since I had time, I visited the Imperial Palace.The Imperial Palace of Japan is located in front of Tokyo Station.Tokyo Station, which looks like a British building, is sometimes said to be because Japan learned British railway technology. However, the overall design was done by a German engineer:Franz Baltzer, and the exterior was designed by a Japan archtecture: Kingo Tatsuno.  Baltzer proposed a Japan-like design, but the Japan government was promoting Westernization, and Tatsuno designed a English-like brick exterior.Tatsuno studied architecture in England..In the (more…)
