Hakata DONTAKU

DONTAKU is famous festival in Fukuoka prefecture of Kyusyu island west south Japan. In addition, Fukuoka is my wife’s hometown. Hakata is a central downtown name in Fukuoka-city and it area is little almost around of Hakata station. Fukuoka-city is a port town and faces Hakata Bay. Name of “Hakata” is popular than “Fukuoka” in history. Many Japanese have misunderstanding “Hakata-city” exists as Fukuoka capital city. Really, they say it discussed to choose “Hakata-city” instead of “Fukuoka-city” when Tokugawa Shogun government returned political power to Emperor. In souvenir shops in Hakata-Station, There are very few items of named “Fukuoka…” souvenirs.
