Toki-no-Sumika Illuminations in Gotenba

Toki-no-Sumika is the hotel name. It means living place of Time. That hotel is in Gotenba city near by Ashigara city and the foot of Mt. Fuji. In ages of Edo era (1603-1867), Shogun (Samurai master) was staying in Gotenba when he visit Mt. Fuji. “Go” is English “Tne”. “ten” is “palace”, “ba” is “place”. It is a scenic tourist spot that I was able to go to Tokyo or a day trip. The hotel offers a large-scale illumination show to increase the number of guests. Yoshiyuki Tomino exhibition

Mr. Yoshiyuki Tomino is a famous animation director and the author of MOBILE SUITS GUNDAM. Gundam is an animation from 40 years ago, but it is a popular series where new works are still broadcast on TV. Gundam was the third original animation of the company “Sunrise” that was working on animation under subcontractors.If they were not popular, they had no choice but to go back to their subcontractors.It was a very adventurous work to show to a 10-year-old child.A huge amount of materials from that time were exhibited at the Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art.Unfortunately, photography is not allowed (more…)

Mt. Fuji and Sea of Clouds

I live in Osaka on business and often go back to my home in Gunma Prefecture. It’s about 350 miles away. Because there is Mt. Fuji on the way, I see it from the parking on highway, and stay at the hotel and see it.I often stay at a hotel on a hill where I can see Lake Yamanaka and Mt. Fuji well. It may be cloudy and invisible at all, but this year we were able to see the sea of clouds over Lake Yamanaka and Mt. Fuji together.<click the picture, it links to jpg file> Images taken from (more…)

PEYOUNG Hormon (broiled pig innards)

The broiled big inners is called Hormon in Japan and popular foods. Osaka people love beef than pork, but they love also Hormon. Naming of Hormon is came from Germany, they say it is good images for health and nourishing foods. All reagions in Japan has hormon food menus, but Japanese hormon image is Osaka. I think that Hit of animation of Osaka little girl “Chie” are broiling pig inners on skewers in Osaka downtown.
